“Shakespeare’s works seem to outlive generations because they are extraordinarily adaptable and human. They describe the archetype of human behaviour that has not changed since they were written, opening up a dialogue across generations with enormous interpretive possibilities.” Sara Glojnaric
Sara Glojnaric’s chamber opera, a kind of reflex on some scenes from the drama Othello, consolidates on individual sentences, statements and pointed snatches of dialogue from the protagonists. From these she builds ten scenes in which the human condition and behaviour of the Shakespearean characters Othello / Iago / Desdemona are transformed into the present.
