HUMAN – MASS – POWER
Pocket Opera Festival 2025 at the ODEЇON Salzburg
We are entering the 2025 festival under the title HUMAN – MASS – POWER). And even 20 years after its founding, we are not skimping on musical theatre surprises:
Elena Mendoza, Nikolaus Brass, Bernd Richard Deutsch and Vito Žuraj have each composed their own parts for the new musical theatre production; the starting point for the continuously narrated evening is Thomas Mann’s novella ‘Mario and the Magician’. The setting: a picturesque village on the Ligurian coast.
For the first time, a choir will take on the part that is usually played by instruments. The outstanding ‘orchestra of human voices’ consists of 28 singers from the SWR Vocal Ensemble in Stuttgart. The ‘musical mass’ on stage also includes 12 children from the wonderful Salzburg Festival and Theatre Children’s Choir. They are joined by Hermine Schrattenecker (Giulietta), Joshua Miro Ebsen (Mario), Michael Günther (Cipolla) and Maarten Güppertz (Luigi).
Our performance venue is also magnificent and new – the Kulturforum ODEЇON in Salzburg-Mayrwies (with free parking and direct connection via trolleybus line 4).
Premiere on Wednesday, 12 November 2025 at 7 p.m., further performances on 13 & 15 November at 7 p.m., 16 November at 6 p.m.
