The sound texture in Filippo Perocco’s piece wants to tell us “rode le osse” (nail the bone): evoking a kind of autistic, frenetic, hallucinated lullaby.
When Perocco started looking for a possible musical solution for this project, he spontaneously thought of a woodworm, a parasite that spreads in the body of its host. But the worst worm of our time sits in our heads, in thoughts, ideas, and everyday life and eats away at our bodies.
“The sonic approach to my recent works evokes images of rubble, debris and ruins. I like to think of my approach to musical material as that of a sculptor, experimenting with this material. The material – often once a chance find – is then subjected to various manipulations, such as a kind of grating or a process of erosion.” (Filippo Perocco)
