Hüseyin Evirgen’s work includes a number of electro-acoustic pieces and collaborations in the fields of video, dance and theatre. At the same time, he is active live as an electronic performer, DJ and producer. Among other things, he is also a long-time composer in residence at the Toihaus Theater Salzburg, a producer in Berlin as well as in international clubs.
Victim of Changes is a very reduced, minimalist piece. After the first confrontation with this image, the death of the children, Evirgen would actually have preferred to have written 15 minutes of silence. In fact, the composition is now based on a ritual-like rhythmic loop that becomes more and more unpleasant and unbearable throughout the piece due to tonal and rhythmic disturbances.
The first layer is a continuous improvisation on electronic instruments. The voices and acoustic instruments are used like an extended instrument, following the same structures as the electronic element.
