Julia Mihály
Moves as a composer at the intersections of new music, performance art and electroacoustic music. She studied classical singing and electronic composition in Hannover, Germany, and initially worked mainly as a contemporary music performer and electronic performer. In recent years she has concentrated on working as a composer. “Contemporary music is understood by the Frankfurt-based artist as a possibility to process all impressions that surround us (…) – in her compositions high and everyday culture merge.” (Leonie Reineke)
Julia Mihály writes about her music theater SOURIS A true faker is a great faker is a mystery maker! for a singer, an actor, seven instruments and electronics: “We would like to think we know a ‘natural’, authentic behavior of ourselves. But what is that behavior supposed to be?” Reality and fake, stage events and their staging intertwine as the composer collages her own reflections with Sophie Calle’s reflections to tell a new story.
