Christian Sturm, this year in the plays “Zumutung” by Stephan Winkler and in “SOURIS A true faker is a great faker is a mystery maker!” by Julia Mihály.
He was already part of the 2019 Pocket Opera Festival in “Tongs & Bones” by Stephan Winkler. After “Tongs & Bones” in 2019 and “Universums-Stulp” in 2014, “Zumutung” is Stephan Winkler’s third premiere.
Christian Sturm is an internationally successful opera and concert singer who has established himself on renowned stages as well as at festivals and in CD and radio productions. His singing is characterized by stylistic diversity, an authentic sound and the excellent combination of words and music. His wide-ranging concert repertoire extends from Monteverdi’s Vespers to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and the great oratorios of the Romantic and modern periods, as well as numerous world premieres. This documents both his stylistic versatility and his extraordinary talent. The lyric tenor was a member of the permanent ensemble of the Wuppertal Opera, the Staatstheater Gärtnerplatz and the Landestheater Coburg. He has also appeared at renowned theaters such as the Nationaltheater Weimar, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the opera houses in Dortmund, Leipzig, Trier, Modena, Salzburg, Tel Aviv and Zurich.
Christian Sturm was born in Andernach on the Rhine. He received his training at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, where he studied opera singing with Daphne Evangelatos and concert singing with Christian Gerhaher. He also completed scenic training at the Bavarian Theater Academy in the Prinzregententheater.
