Alvaro Carlevaro
Born in Uruguay, he studied composition in Montevideo and with Helmut Lachenmann in Stuttgart, where he has since lived as a freelance composer. With practically “classical” means of contemporary composition, he creates dramaturgically sophisticated arcs of tension in his works, shimmering intense sound buildings. Music that is free of all airs and graces, and whose density drives the heartbeat higher.
Alvaro Carlevaro and Hans-Peter Jahn combine the thematic leading figures Max Beckmann and Sophie Calle in two theatrical scenes. SPIEGELUNG: a MUSIC / THEATRE for ensemble and two actors alludes to the conflict between two men who assert different values towards works of art and in the process become aware of the artificial-superficial binding nature of a friendship. Art must be allowed to do everything, according to the position of one man, art may do many things, only not defame, the position of the other man.
